2.03 Supervising

Supervising is overseeing employees’ actions, monitoring their performance, and providing guidance and feedback. For instance, Bernardo is a server at a restaurant. Sometimes, when he is taking care of a customer, his manager watches him to see how quickly he is able to take orders. The level of supervision required depends on the job, department, and the employees’ working styles. Some managers might observe or check in on employees constantly, while others might set up regularly scheduled appointments to check in and monitor progress.
