A solid education is an important foundation for any business career. The best job prospects are available for those who choose to go beyond high school and obtain a college degree from a legitimate, accredited institution. There are many options available when it comes to higher education. With the rise of the Internet came the rise of online degrees. Some of the institutions offering these degrees are respected and accredited, while others are not. As a matter of fact, some of these “colleges and universities” are nothing but unethical people running diploma mills, churning out worthless degrees just to make a buck. Kathleen is considering earning her business degree online, and her funds are very limited. The school she’s looking at is offering the degree at about half the price of the other online institutions she’s read about. Also, the ad claims that Kathleen won’t have to do any homework or take any tests. The institution is accredited, but Kathleen doesn’t recognize the name of the accrediting agency. What should Kathleen do? Should she pursue the more affordable degree or keep researching her options? How might either choice affect her future career in business?
